On the cool

Wednesday, September 8, 2010

Today, I had no intention of going into that store. I was on a mission for one thing, and one thing only. But something led me there.

And way from the back I hear, "Hi, how are you?"

It's my favorite sales rep.

We embrace.

She tells me what's on sale and I do some browsing.

We chat for awhile...I ask about her kids and that's when it all started.

I listened and since she'd thrown the "G" word around a couple of times I asked her where she worshiped.

I told her I knew she was at work but felt led to prayer for her right then and right there.

I prayed for my favorite rep on the cool.

I didn't need her to get fired.

No need to break out a bottle of oil, shut my eyes and call fire down.

We prayed quietly while she worked and Holy Spirit was very present.

She thanked me and I ended up buying something anyway. (It was on sale boo, I promise!)

Prophetess Wanda calls it marketplace ministry.

And it's powerful.

Gift of intercession: Power of prayer

Tuesday, September 7, 2010

It is of great value to have people in your life who will pray for you - intercede for you. One of the benefits of being connected to the Body of Christ is the power of intercession. I just recently discovered I had an intercessor in an unlikely place...Facebook!

There have been some awesome people in my life who are designated to pray me down from the proverbial ledge every so often. What do I mean by that? There are times when it appeared the test, the trial, had the upper hand and I was ready to concede defeat. I think I even told God a few times I didn't want to play anymore. I wanted to storm off and go sit in a corner by myself! But at those very moments, I know prayers uttered on my behalf strengthened me to continue.

I am thankful for those assigned to pray for me. I've called, IM'd when my flesh was having a full-blown temper tantrum and they spoke life to me. And the beauty is they didn't think any less of me or condemn me. I was still "Pastor Lisa." Now how awesome is that? You just gotta love a good intercessor!

A stronghold has finally been destroyed and I am thankful for those who waged war with me and for me.

Thank you.

I love you more than words could ever say.

Saint's don't stop praying...for the Lord is nigh...

Be nice to a retail employee today

Monday, September 6, 2010

It's Labor Day and I'm home today, but that wasn't always the case.

As a former retail employee, I've gotten dressed and left my husband and children at home while I went to work on the holiday. Retail employees get few of the traditional holidays off. And you know that going in but it was still hard leaving everyone at home.

I had a few customers who were especially thoughtful and would offer to bring me things on those days.

So as a former retail employee, give a big smile to your cashier, order taker, server, waitress today. I promise it'll make their day.

I can't remember...

Sunday, September 5, 2010

I can't remember if it was Pastor Azizah, that Debbie Coffman or Prophetess Tapika but I know one of them declared that it is the year of the Lord's release at the LNO Conference!

That was just over two months ago and man, talk about a shift! Somebody help me cyberscream!

I promise I'm in awe of Him.

I promise He is faithful.

I promise He hears and He answers.

I promise His word is TRUE!

I promise if you wait on Him, He answers.

I promise He won't leave you. (Lord how many times did I play that cut by Thomas Whitfield? LOL!)

I promise that when it seems like you're down for the count, there is power to get back up again.

He is worthy of a standing ovation tonight and I cry, "BRAVO SIR!" "VERY WELL DONE!"

And how all this came about at this time in this season has me marveling at just how big, how strategic, how brilliant He truly is! If I could high-five Him I would!

So to whichever of my sisters who hollered it is the year of the Lord's release...OH YES IT IS!

OPD - Other People's Drama

Saturday, September 4, 2010

The word of the Lord says that we are to "Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ." Galatians 6:2. The verse right above speaks of restoring those overcome with a fault - those overtaken with sin. I champion their case in prayer because I could just as easily be tempted.

Bearing one another's burdens and entertaining OPD - other people's drama are not one in the same. There's a line (sometimes a fine one) between the two but you will know when you've crossed over into the drama zone.

OPD will ring your phone late at night with foolishness, won't heed wise counsel, and often enjoys all the attention the mayhem creates. There just never seems to be an end to the drama and it's draining.

I bring this up because Pastor Deanna has a post regarding atmosphere. Her coach Kathryn has a plan in place to protect her atmosphere for her own mental well-being. I learned this lesson the hard way but it's one I learned and continue to implement. My atmosphere is under my domain. I control who and what I entertain and OPD is not welcome. OPD at any level is spiritually and mentally toxic. Extremely high levels of  OPD will render you useless for the Kingdom; it will consume you.

Maintaining my atmosphere is something I take seriously. My spiritual and mental health depend on it. So whether it's OPD, a TV show, movie, book, or music I guard my atmosphere; not everyone or everything is allowed intimate access.

It's how I take care of me - it's how I maintain my sanity and how I keep myself plugged in to the Father so I can hear from Him.

Do what you have to do to protect your atmosphere.

Just say no to OPD.

History Repeating

Friday, September 3, 2010

It's a fact that you can't expect something different if you keep doing the same thing. It's history repeating. If you want something different, you have to do something different. It seems I've come full circle in a particular area of my life and there's a bit of history I WON'T BE REPEATING! I've learned my lessons and writing a brand new chapter!

I love the song below...the vocals are insane! But contrary to the lyrics...history won't be repeating this time. Enjoy the Propellerheads and Shirely Bassey! The cinematography is awesome! Inspires the director in me!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Thankful Thursday

Thursday, September 2, 2010

He was driving one of these when we met.
The old adage you never know what you had until it's gone is true. We had become a one-car family with three working adults. I've spent more time behind the wheel of a car over the past two weeks! Accommodating shifting work schedules took a bit of thought and somehow we made it work. But today I'm thankful that my beloved in a moment of genius was able to get our car up and running again! The old Toyota lives! [Insert angelic "ahhh" here.]
My Tercel was just like this one.

My hubby is forever sold on a Toyota engine. His first car was a Toyota - a rally red Corolla SR5. My first car was a Toyota Tercel (also red). And Lindsey will inherit the Toyota Camry as a first car - (it's burgundy, close enough!)

So on this Thankful Thursday, I'm grateful the old Camry lives and for the brilliant man who made it happen!

What are you thankful for today?
